We just received copies of Pokemon Black and White (the ROMs, that is - our real copies are still being shipped). We'll be playing the games and reporting everything we encounter, so be sure to keep checking back! The bullet points below are arranged from newest to oldest; you don't have to scroll down every time you refresh the page. Also be sure to read the past several posts here as they contain a wealth of information! For reference, here is our Isshu Pokemon list. Be sure to share your thoughts about the game in this forum thread!
- You battle N. He has a Lv.28 Gantoru, Lv.28 Batula, Lv.28 Gear, and a Lv.28 Tesshiido. After the battle, Araragi and Belle come to back up up as he goes on about freeing Pokemon and how they are wrong for catching Pokemon. He's also angry at Araragi for making the Pokedex because it's defining Pokemon by human rules. He departs and says he's going to befriend the Legendary Pokemon.
- One of the grunts says N was raised alongside Pokemon, so he knows better than anyone what Pokemon are thinking. We see this in the game's intro.
- This time the whole "Dark Trinity" is waiting for you. They lead you away, then downstairs where Team Plasma is waiting for you. You battle many grunts.
- You can find wild Batula and Gear in the cave.
- Belle and Professor Araragi enter the cave; Belle is escorting her. The professor gives you the Lucky Egg item. She's researching the electric rocks in the cave and Gear.
- When you enter the cave, you're immediately captured by two people with black outfits and white hair. They say they're part of the "Dark Trinity" and take you to N, disappearing like ninjas (the third member isn't seen yet). They're the ones who setup the web. N warns you that Gichizu is after you and your friends then leaves.
- There is a spider web blocking the end of Route 6 - it covers the entrance to Electric Stone Cave (that one with the electric floating rocks). Yakon approaches and says the web is a Dentula web, which is odd to him since Dentula don't normally appear near his town. He uses his Warubiru to break it, as he says it's his duty to keep things in order for humans. He gives you TM78 Smooth Over and departs.
- Sometimes when you pick up a Poke Ball item on the ground it turns out to be Tamagetake! It's obviously the Voltorb of Isshu like Tabunne is its Chansey.
- Belle stops you on the way to Route 6 and challenges you. As posted earlier, she has a Lv.26 Harderia, Lv.26 Baoppu/Hiyappu/Yanappu, Lv.26 Musharna, and a Lv.28 Futachimaru/Janoby/Chaobuu. After you beat her she gives you HM02 Fly.
- You can now enter Yakon's Gym. It's almost like Byron's Gym from Diamond and Pearl - it has many elevators. You have to run around on girders and go up and down to get to the middle elevator. Once you get there, it takes you all the way down, through a metal door in the ground, and into a room with Yakon. As posted earlier today in this post, he uses a Lv.29 Warubiru, Lv.29 Gamagaru, and a Lv.31 Doryuuzu. Hilariously, he forgot your TM and says he'll meet you on Route 6 to give it to you. Of course its the American cowboy that lets the bad guys go and forgets the reward every other Gym Leader grants the player. :p
- But, when you get to the Gym, Yakon is standing in front with Vio and the grunts all out. Yakon and the workers are being accosted by Geechisu and the grunts. Geechisu argues with Yakon that Team Plasma is only trying to take Pokemon from evil people. He also says that they plan on leaving because they're looking for something beyond Hiun City, but Yakon doesn't let them finish and says he doesn't care what they're doing as long as they leave his city. As they leave, Vio thanks Geechisu, but he says, "Don't thank me, after all, we're both sages working for the same king."
- Deep in the warehouse you encounter another Plasma Sage: Vio. She is hiding with a bunch of grunts in a cold storage locker. You and Cheren split up to take them on. New Pokemon the grunts have are Meerhog, Zuruggu, Leopardas, and Yabukuron. After you defeat them, Yakon shows up with some of the warehouse workers and arrests all of the grunts, including Vio, who never even said a word. There is a Nevermeltice in the storage locker.
- In Hodome City you head south to a warehouse and you'll meet up with Cheren. Team Plasma is supposed to be inside. You'll find TM55 Boiling Water. You have to slide around on ice to get places and battle random Trainers. There are no wild Pokemon.
- When you start crossing the bridge there is something fluttering in the wind and a shadow moving around. If you hit A on it, you pick up an item called the Celestial Feather. When you use it on a Pokemon, it increases their Special Defense.
- You head toward the draw bridge. Kamitsure calls Yakon, the Gym leader of Hodome City, and tells him you are coming to challenge him. He has the bridge lowered for you, but Team Plasma uses the opportunity to cross over into the city. Yakon gets mad at you and says to get rid of Team Plasma and then you can battle him.
- Adeku heals you and has you and Cheren face two little kids with two Harderia. He wants you to see that battling is about more than just raw power.
- Right after you defeat Cheren, Kamitsure comes over and takes you and Cheren to a small festival up ahead. She introduces you to a guy named Adeku, the Isshu League Champion - he has bright red and orange hair in the same style as SSJ Goku but with a ponytail. His team data is below in this post. It seems as if Belle will defeat him, become the Champion you battle, then she'll return home afterward which is why you face him in the Elite 4 rematches.
- As you exit the west side of the city on Route 5 Cheren comes from behind and challenges you to yet another match. He has a Lv.24 Leopardas, Lv.24 Yanappu/Baoppu/Hiyappu, Lv.24 Hatohpoh, and a Lv.26 Chaobuu/Futachimaru/Janoby.
- When you're Paralyzed you glow yellow.
- You can now go to the fifth Gym, which is to the left of the Ferris wheel. You have to jump into roller coaster cars and go around the Gym hitting floor panels which open up new routes. You can then battle Kamitsure, who has two Lv.25 Emonga and a Lv.27 Zebraika. She awards you TM72 Volt Change.
- When you finish the battle, it goes to a cut-scene of N's face. He says that he's going to surpass the Elite Four Champion. Once he's unbeatable, he says, every Trainer will be forced to liberate their Pokemon. His goal is to collect all the Gym badges and head to the Pokemon League so he can make this dream come true.
- N is at the south-east part of the city. He asks you if you're still looking for Team Plasma and tells you they've escaped into the amusement park. He takes you deeper into the park to the Ferris wheel and says you might be able to spot them from the top. While in the Ferris wheel he reveals that he has been the Team Plasma leader since the beginning. He says that he has ordered Gichizu to liberate Pokemon. When you and him get off the Ferris wheel Team Plasma appears and asks him if he's okay. He tells them that he's going to protect them and that they should run away. He engages you in a battle and his VS screen has the Team Plasma logo on it. He has a Lv.22 Meguroco, Lv.22 Darumakka, Lv.22 Zuruggu, and a Lv.22 Shinporah.
- Route 5 is closed-off: the draw bridge is up!
- The bike goes super fast and stops abruptly.
- There's also a Basketball, Football, and Tennis field with actual players.
- The Battle Subway is in Raimon City. When you approach it, a blue-haired girl comes out and gives you the VS Seeker. It lets you record your battles like in the previous two games. The Battle Subway can be used to battle Trainers and the trains can transport you around Isshu.
- Once you
escapeexit, Belle's father confronts her. He tells her that he doesn't want her to continue her Pokemon Journey because he is worried about her. Belle protests and then a stranger appears. She introduces herself as Kamitsure. Belle's father is angry with the newcomer for interfering with a family matter, but Kamitsure explains that for all the bad things that are happening in Isshu, there are still many good people, and that Belle's Pokemon will always be by her side supporting her. Belle's father accepts this but with the caveat that you (the player) must also protect Belle. In the end he wants Belle to do whatever makes her happy. Belle promises him that after she finishes her journey she'll go home (this explains why she isn't the Champion anymore after you defeat her in the E4 - she goes home). He leaves, and Kamitsure then invites the two of you to visit the town's Gym.- Belle enters Raimon City and goes to the Pokemon Musical building. Inside an old man gives you a Goods Case for holding Pokemon Musical accessories. You try to run away but you know what's coming... a tutorial on Pokemon Music contests. The guy makes you try to dress up your Pokemon in front of a girly pink mirror. Then you get to escape, surely never to return again!
- Within seconds of entering Raimon City, Team Plasma is at it again! They're harassing an old man. You fight one one the grunts who has a Meerhog and Yabukuron. After defeating the grunt, the old man gives you a Bike.
- When you get off Route 4 Araragi meets you and Cheren and gives you Ultra Balls (there's 10 in the bag... not sure how many she gave).
- On this sandy route, the dark-colored sand is where wild Pokemon like Darumakka dwell. When you battle "a sandstorm rages" during battles.
- After the battle Professor Araragi calls you and Cheren on the Live Caster. She wants you to pick up something in Raimon City.
- You can now go on Route 4, which is in a sandstorm. You'll encounter Cheren almost immediately. As posted before, he has a Lv.20 Mamepato, Lv.20 Leopardas, Lv.20 Yanappu/Baoppu/Hiyappu (same as your Starter's type), and Lv.22 Chaobuu/Futachimaru/Janoby (the one you're weak to).
- When you exit the Gym Belle calls you on the Live Caster. She wants to battle you! On your way out of Hiun City, she'll challenge you. As posted before, she has a Lv.18 Harderia, Lv.18 Baoppu/Hiyappu/Yanappu (the one you're weak to), Lv.18 Munna, and a Lv.20 Futachimaru/Janoby/Chaobuu (the one you're strong against).
- You can now battle the third Gym Leader, Aati. In his Gym you have to step on gooey floor tiles, which help open gates. As posted before, he has a Lv.21 Hoiiga, Lv.21 Ishizumai, and Lv.23 Hahakomori. He awards you TM76 Bug Resistance.
- Inside the building is Gechise, leader of Team Plasma, along with two Team Plasma sages. They talk about the "White Dragon" then give Munna back to Belle without incident. Then they leave.
- When you approach the Hiun City Gym, Cheren comes out and heads to Route 4 - he's beaten Aati and is heading for the Pokemon League. Then Aati runs out of the Gym and says there's an issue at Prime Pier. You go there and Belle is with Iris, the eighth Gym Leader. Somehow between Aloe's Gym and the Hiun City Gym Belle's Munna was stolen by Team Plasma. (They're obsessed with Dream Smoke apparently.) You fight Team Plasma, who has a Warubiru. Once defeated you, Iris, and Belle go inside a building to fight more grunts.
- You can also get a Lemonade item in a cafe down the same alley.
- If you go down a back ally there's a guy who jumps out from behind a trash can and gives you TM70 Flash.
- There's an art gallery in Hiun. A man there wants to see certain types of Pokemon for inspiration. If you show him what he wants, he'll give you your choice of one of several Berries as a reward.
- There's a ship south of town called the Royal Isshu, but you can't get on it yet.
- Hiun City is huuuuuge. To the north is Route 4 and there's a sandstorm. The route is blocked off until you defeat the Gym Leader.
- When you exit the guard station you're on Sky Arrow Bridge heading toward Hiun City!
- A Miracle Seed is on the ground when leaving the woods and a hiker will give you a Quick Claw inside the next guard station.
- Aloe and Aati finally arrived. The sage addresses everyone, spewing out threats, then leaves with the grunt. Aloe gives you a Moon Stone for your work.
- A guy named Asura just appeared and is talking to the grunt. He is one of the "Seven Sages of Team Plasma." The sage tells the grunt that it's okay if he lost the Dragon Bone because it's unconnected to the Legendary Pokemon they're looking for.
- You and Aati head to Yaguruma Forest to look for Team Plasma. Aati goes off in another direction while you fight grunts with Meguroco, Choroneko, and Minezumi. Trainers in the forest have Harderia, Fushide, Dokkorar, and the three elemental monkeys. After you defeat the last grunt, he hands over the bone to you.
- The third Gym Leader, Aati, shows up at the museum. He's Aloe's friend. Cheren and Belle also show up - they're going to stay with Aloe at the museum. Belle gives you the Item Finder, which she received from Makomo.
- A boy named Kidachi just ran up to Aloe - he says she's his mom. He tells his mom Team Plasma stole some bones from the museum. They stole Dragonite's head. :(
- Aloe uses Super Potions. As stated before, she has a Lv.18 Harderia and Lv.20 Meerhog. She awards you TM67 Get Even.
- The Gym is inside the museum. One of the books in the Gym talks about the history of making Poffin in Sinnoh.
- The museum has the skeleton of a giant Dragonite on display. We know it's Dragonite because it looks like it and a description of the skeleton says "A Pokemon that flies around the world."
- N stops you from going into the Shippou City Museum - he says he needs the power of the Legendary Pokemon Reshiram to accomplish his goals. You battle his Lv.13 Mamepato, Lv.13 Dokkorar, and Lv.13 Otamaro.
- Cheren is waiting for you in Shippou City. He gives you a Chesto Berry and tells you to use Fighting-types because the Gym Leader has Normal-types.
- Some of the grass is dark green, which indicates you can encounter double wild battles. However, you will encounter one-on-one battles as well; the grass isn't exclusively for double wild battles.
- In the grass outside the cave are wild Shimama and Mamepato.
- In the cave are Moguryuu, Dangoro, and Koromori. You can also get TM46 Thief.
- After you defeat the Plasma grunts you get a Heal Bell from the little girl.
- You head into a cave and fight the Plasma members. You fight one on-screen with Minezumi while Cheren defeats one off-screen. Two more grunts come to back them up. This time you and Cheren have a double battle against them - they both have Minezumi.
- You can go south or west from this route, but if you try to go south Belle stops you and tells you to go west after the Plasma grunts.
- You encounter Cheren (see his roster below). After you defeat him, some Plasma grunts charge past both of you. Then Belle comes with one of the children from the daycare - she and the kid were chasing the grunts because they stole the kid's Pokemon. Belle stays to comfort the kid and Cheren runs after the grunts (you're to go too, but you don't go together).
- The C-Gear is apparently always connected to Wi-Fi.
- The Pokemon Daycare is right outside Sanyou City. There's also a daycare center for children where you can battle Trainers.
- The first double battle in the game is encountered outside the exit.
- Previously a man was blocking Sanyou City's exit, but now you can leave the city and head on to Route 3.
- When you go back to Makomo's house she awards you the C Gear and then her assistant gives you the Pal Pad. When you get the C Gear there's a warning that says not to use it in hospitals and airplanes. o_O
- Wild Munna, Minezumi, and Choroneko appear in the warehouse.
- Makomo comes and yells "Musharna!" It turns out Musharna was making the illusions of Gechisu appear to protect Munna. She wants you to go to her house.
- After defeating the Grunts, they continue to beat up Munna to try to take the Dream Smoke. However, Gechisu, the leader of Team Plasma, appears and yells at them to stop. Oddly, there are two Gechisu - one purple and one yellow - and they teleport around the screen. The Grunts run off. Musharna, Munna's evolved form, appears. Both Munna and Musharna run off and drop the Dream Smoke, which you pick up.
- You and Belle go to the warehouse and see a Munna. But Team Plasma grunts appear and they want the Munna's Dream Smoke because it can be used to hypnotize people. They start kicking Munna to make it drop the Dream Smoke, so you fight them individually - the first Grunt has a Minezumi and the second has a Choroneko.
- Getting back on our journey: You have to go to the Broken Dreams Warehouse, which is to the east of the city. You use Cut to get past a tree, and once you clear it, Belle bumps into you. Outside of the Broken Dreams Warehouse we received a Baoppu (the Fire-type monkey) from a girl. She probably gives you the monkey that is weak to your Starter Pokemon. Baoppu is at Level 10 and knows Scratch, Leer, Lick, and Flame Burst.
- - As we showed yesterday, Cynthia is in the game and you can challenge her during the spring and summer. Her team is Lv.75 Spiritomb, Lv.75 Shibirudon, Lv.75 Milotic, Lv.75 Wargle, Lv.75 Lucario, and a Lv.77 Garchomp.
- - After you defeated Belle, a new Champion apparently took her place: his name is Champion Adeku. He uses a Lv.75 Agirudar, Lv.75 Buffalon, Lv.75 Crimgan, Lv.75 Vaivanilla, Lv.75 Shubarugo, and a Lv.77 Urgamoth.

- Futachimaru learns Fury Cutter at Lv.19.
- On the way out of the Gym you encounter Makomo. She says she's a friend of Professor Araragi. She brings you to her lab and gives you HM01 (Cut). She wants you to find Dream Smoke so you can connect to the Dream World.
- As previously reported, when you receive a badge it floats into the air and goes into your badge case. You also receive TM83 (Cheer Up).
- In the Sanyou Gym there are a series of curtains and buttons with Energy symbols printed on them. To pass, you must step on the button that is super-effective against the type depicted on the curtain. You battle a Trainer after opening each curtain, before finally facing the Gym Leader (Dento, Poddo, or Kon). He uses a Lv.12 Yorterrie and either a LV. 14 Yanappu, Baoppu, or Hiyappu depending on your starter. The music changes when his elemental monkey is sent out.
- When you first enter the Gym, an NPC gives you a bottle of Fresh Water (a healing item) to assist with the coming battle.
- Futachimaru's animation shows it picking up one of the shells on its legs and wielding it like a sword.
- Mijumaru learns Shell Blade at LV.17 (physical, 95 accuracy, 75 base power). It also evolves at this level!
- After you battle Cheren, you can go to the Gym, and Dento's waiting in front.
- You battle Cheren inside the Trainers' School. He has a Lv.8 male Tsutarja and a Lv.8 male Choroneko. If you beat him, he gives you an Oran Berry.
- If you try to approach the Gym, a guard will tell you to visit the Trainers' School first (to the left of the Pokemon Center).
- There are no non-Isshu Pokemon in the game pre-E4, but you'll find a Pikachu topiary in Sanyou City.
- Mijumaru learns Focus Energy at LV.13.
- From Route 2 you enter Sanyou City.
- Belle battles you on Route 2. She has a LV.6 female Yorterrie, and LV.7 Pokabu. As in 4th Generation games, she has a "pinch quote" that she says when she's losing.
- Time and Wi-Fi status are displayed on the bottom screen during battles.
- Pokemon on Route 2 include Yorterrie and Minezumi. Trainers also use those Pokemon.
- Battles are very fast! It almost feels like watching a video on fast-forward.
- Okay we're ready to play again! On Route 2, your mom calls you on the Video Caster then pops up behind you to give you the Running Shoes.
- - In extracting ROM data, Jason believes he has found Geechisu's team: Lv.50 Abagohra, Lv.50 Vaivanilla, Lv.50 Archaeos, Lv.50 Zoroark, Lv.50 Gigigearl
- Arty has compiled a list of all the Pokemon who have alternate Dream World abilities - check it out!
- Base stats on list fixed!
- Here is our recording of the Pokemon White intro!
- The Isshu Pokemon list has been updated with all the new Pokemon's base stats, which were extracted from the ROM data by our friend Arty. As we said yesterday, Rotom's formes all lose their secondary Ghost-type and become the type of the attack they specialize in: Electric / Grass, Electric / Fire, Electric / Water, Electric / Ice, and Electric / Flying.
- Right now I'm uploading the White intro to YouTube. Stand by!
- Since we're playing the ROM for now (our real games are still on the way), we can't level-up our Pokemon. So, it's almost impossible to beat N, and this is where we'll have to stop for now. Even after using Potions, the wild Pokemon get too hard to battle.
- You walk outside and a lot of people are gathered. Team Plasma is arranged outside with their flags to the side of them. You and Cheren watch Geechisu give a speech - the music gets all dramatic. Above the crowd's head question and comment bubbles pop up. N is among the crowd! After Geechisu gives his speech, two Plasma members put the flags away. They walk around Geechisu like bodyguards and walk off. The music returns to normal, but then N approaches you and Cheren. He has his own theme music - sounds like something out of Harry Potter. N battles you with a Level 7 Choroneko. When you first strike Choroneko, he comments on the battle. When you're not doing anything during the battle, the camera goes all over the place. When your HP bar gets to red the music gets more dramatic.
- You arrive in Karakusa Town. Araragi is standing in front of the Pokemon Center and brings you in. The nurse looks JUST like Nurse Joy - looks like they changed her from the beta footage we saw months ago. Belle is inside too and Araragi makes you heal your Pokemon, she shows you the PC, and she shows you the PC's Mart. You can buy Poke Balls and Potions right away.
- When you approach the next town - a short distance away - Araragi calls you on the Live Caster. Everyone blinks and when they talk their mouths move.
- Professor Araragi shows you how to catch a Pokemon by capturing a Level 2 Minezumi with her Level 7 female Chillarmy. She gives you five Poke Balls after the lesson. Your friends leave you and go off. In the grass you can encounter Yorterrie - its cry sounds like two barks.
- You walk outside and Mom is waiting for you! She gives you the Town Map then leaves. Your friends leave as well - they walk to the entrance of Route 1. You meet up with them and see Professor Araragi in the distance. It's spring, so pink flower petals are flowing through the air.
- By the way, you can't run yet. You see your friends in the top right corner of town and you go inside to meet Professor Araragi, the one who left you the Starter Pokemon present. She talks to you for a bit, probably saying how much you've bonded with your Pokemon. She then gives you the option to nickname your Starter. A little later she gives you your Pokedex as well. She leaves the lab.
- As you walk out of your house a bunch of Mamepato are on the ground and fly off as the sun's rays reflect on the screen. Belle walks off to her house. When you enter, it appears she is fighting with her dad. When she sees you, she puts her hands on her face in embarrassment. I can't read what they're saying, but we reported earlier in the year that her father does not approve of her being a Pokemon Trainer. She'll of course prove him wrong later when she becomes the Elite Four Champion (...that you defeat... you jerk). She leaves the house.
- You and your friends go downstairs and talk to Mom. She tells them to go see Professor Araragi and as they leave she heals your Pokemon. She also gives you your Live Caster.
- Lots of new sound effects, especially in the menus!
- As we knew before, the battle music becomes more intense when your HP is low.
- Your first and second battle is against either Cheren or Belle; in the first battle one of them uses the Pokemon you are strongest against while in the second they use the Pokemon you are weak to. If you choose Mijumaru, Belle will battle you with Pokabu followed by Cheren with Tsutarja. Cheren heals you after the first battle, but you're not healed after the second. Your room is destroyed after the first battle (you have a huge TV in your room - what a rich kid!).
- The next scene is you, Cheren, and Belle looking at the present. You pick your starters here.
- The game intro shows N being crowned. Once you start a new game, Professor Araragi greets you like all the other professors - she shows you Chillarmy, you choose your gender, she shows you who your friends are, and then it cuts-away to "Gamefreak Presents - Pokemon White" as Professor Araragi enters your house. This is where she drops off her present. It then says "Spring" on the screen.
